To our all defense! We’ve been kids – these creations (at least to our knowledge) have been done by grown-ups. Today, as adults – we could make something like this as well, right? Well maybe not, but we won’t try it anyway, so no harm, no foul.
On a more serious note. There are other factors that make these sand sculptures possible in the first place. Of course, the most important things are skill, dedication and a steady hand.
What it takes to create epic sand art creations.
Yet, the sand IS different from what we used as kids at the beach.
“It has a small amount of clay in it … ” said Gordon Summer, co-producer of the Sand Sculpting Challenge. “There are no rocks or stones. And unlike particles of beach sand that are washed over and over by waves and are therefore rounded, these microscopic particles have sharp edges that knit together well.”
Aha! I knew it! So it was the shitty sand I was using, that held me back to become a master sculptor. Not the fact that I played video games all the time!
If you think you’ve got what it takes to become a master sculptor you can try to compete in the annual U.S. Sand Sculpting Challenge and show off your sand art creations!
You could win $60,000 in the process as well. So go out, grab your shovel and start building! Please don’t forget to send us your results!
